Kokinokastro Beach

Kokinokastro beach is located just 7 km north-east of the capital, Patitiri. Its name means "red castle", the reason you will already understand that it is due to its landscape, placed under a wild red cliff. We are talking about a beautiful beach that has sand mixed with pebbles together with crystal clear and deep waters, for these we recommend paying attention to the little ones with you.

What can I find on Kokinokastro beach?

Once you arrive you can enjoy the intimate and wild relaxation that Kokinokastro beach offers. If you want to use sun beds and umbrellas you can rent them at the kiosk bar for only € 5 per couple. Obviously here you can also buy refreshing drinks and snacks to be able to break all the hours spent in the sun and rest your skin!

If you stay on the bay from morning until afternoon you will notice the colors of the cliffs and the water that change slowly, thus creating an even more suggestive and fascinating panorama.

Little advice from the staff!

We advise you to arrive on Kokinokastro beach early in the morning if you want to enjoy it fully. Even if in general the beach is almost never crowded, in the afternoon you could still find a few more people. In the morning, on the other hand, you could enjoy the bay just as nature made it .. only you, the sun, the sea and absolute tranquility. Take advantage also to do a lot of snorkeling and admire the multicolored fish that populate the waters of the beach.

And in the surroundings ...?

In addition to the splendid panorama with which you will surely fall in love, Kokinokastro beach also offers another exceptional view, the one on the islet of Kokkinonisi, also called Vrahos. Obviously the meaning of the name is "Isola Rossa", which in addition to underlining the particularity of the land also recalls the beach in front of it. Do you think that on this small and harmless island, tools from the Palaeolithic area have been found, but the real peculiarity is that these are the first proofs of human life in the Aegean. So I would say that the stage here is nothing short of unmissable!

In addition to the island in front and its finds, near the beach you can admire some remains of the walls of the ancient city of Ikos.

How do I get to Kokinokastro beach?

Reaching it is quite simple with a car or scooter. Once you arrive at the parking lot where you can leave the rented vehicle you will have to take a slightly steep descent that will lead you directly to the beach.

If you are a researcher and nature lover this is the place for you!
