Myrtos beach

Myrtos beach

The beautiful Myrtos beach is located in the north-west of the island of Kefalonia, nestled between the high cliffs of two mountains, Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros. It is one of the most scenic beaches in Greece, with its 1.5km long arch of sparkling white pebbles and turquoise waters. It is no coincidence that Myrtos beach was chosen as the location for an episode of the famous film with Nicolas Cage and Penelope Cruz "Captain Corelli's Mandolin".

It is a wide beach of very white round pebbles, bathed by a sea of incredible transparency, reminiscent of the Caribbean beaches. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia and is included in the ranking of the 30 most beautiful beaches in the world. In fact, it attracts thousands of visitors to the island of Kefalonia every year.

Our advice

Myrtos beach is certainly not to be missed and we are sure that with some practical precautions you will be able to fully enjoy this wonder! As already mentioned, you arrive early in the morning, so you will avoid chaos in the parking lot and you will not be without an umbrella!

If you don't like walking on the pebbles, which get quite hot during the middle hours, we suggest you to bring rubber shoes with you.

Stop as much as possible on the beach of Myrtos and you will discover that it is something exceptional at any time of the day. In the afternoon when it starts to empty, you will appreciate even more its picturesque surrounding landscape. In the evening do not miss the spectacular sunset, with the sun plunging into the sea, right in front of your eyes and coloring the sky first with orange and then pink. It is certainly the most romantic sunset on the island of Kefalonia.

Not everyone knows that there are two suggestive panoramic points to admire Myrtos beach from above and take your most beautiful photos. One on the left of the beach, along the coastal road that leads to the village of Assos and the other on the opposite side, on the path to the village of Agkonas.

We are sure that the magical atmosphere of Myrtos will leave you breathless, try it to believe it!
