We discover the Beach of Katergo

Katergo is a long strip of sand mixed with light pebbles, lapped by an incredibly transparent sea, which makes it look like a Caribbean beach. It is not equipped and does not offer many areas of natural shade, so we advise you to bring plenty of water and sunscreen with you. If you want to stay longer than a few hours, bring something to eat with you, to break the day.

Arriving early on the beach of Katergo you can relax in the most unspoiled nature, let yourself be lulled by the sound of the sea and admire the incomparable reflections created by the sun, and then immerse yourself in its clear refreshing waters.

Another feature of this magnificent corner of Folegandros is the rock that emerges from the sea, about 30 meters from the beach and recalls a whale emerging from the sea to breathe, creating a picturesque scene to say the least!

How to get to Katergo Beach

The easiest way to reach Katergo beach is by local taxi boat from the port of Karavostasis and in about 10 minutes you will have already arrived on this beautiful beach! The ticket costs 2 euros and there are runs every half hour, or every hour, a base at the time of year.

If you love walking there is a path that starts from the village of Livadi and leads to Katergo beach in about 30 minutes. The path is well signposted and is not particularly demanding. It will be a pleasant walk in the silence of nature, disturbed only by the lively cicadas. Do not worry if at some point you seem to be lost, the descent to access the beach will appear shortly thereafter.

When you arrive near the beach and finally you can admire the panorama of Katergo beach from above you will not believe your eyes and you will be amazed by the colors of the sea.

This beach certainly deserves its fame and is in our opinion an obligatory excursion if you are on vacation on the island of Folegandros, also to observe the spectacular underwater caves during the boat trip. And don't forget to take a multitude of photos in Katergo, one of the most beautiful and wildest beaches of Folegandros!
