Gialos Beach

Gialos Beach

Gialos beach, also called Yialos, is located near the picturesque port of Ormos on the island of Ios, it is a small settlement with an important tourist development. Despite its fame, in comparison to Mylopotas beach, Gialos beach is much less frequented and quieter. This fine golden sand beach is surrounded by green cliffs dotted with white houses and is bathed by a splendid clear and transparent sea.

What can I do on Gialos beach?

Once you reach the beach of Gialos you will notice that it is organized with all the necessary tourist facilities, such as umbrellas and sunbeds for those wishing to relax with maximum comfort, taverns where you can taste typical dishes and fresh fish dishes, bar to munch on snacks or refresh yourself with sweet drinks and water sports equipment such as water skiing, windsurfing, jet skis and much more.
But it does not end here because the Gialos beach also offers mini markets for any need and a wide range of accommodation that allow visitors to stay near this beautiful place.

The church of Agia Irini

In addition to a nice seaside stay, the Gialos beach also offers a small treasure to discover and that we recommend you visit: the beautiful church of Agia Irini, located right on the highest point of the port of Ormos. With its blinding white and splendid sea views, this church makes anyone who admires it fall in love. Get there with a nice walk and you will see that you will not regret it. However, we recommend that you take the water with you and dress comfortably as the path is a bit tortuous, but above all avoid reaching it in the hottest hours if you can, otherwise cover your head well and equip yourself with even more water. If you are a lover and expert of trekking this route you cannot absolutely miss it!
