Mylopotas Beach

Mylopotas beach is located just 3 km from the capital of the island of Ios (Chora), Mylopotas is one of the most visited and crowded beaches in Ios; in fact it is a splendid sandy bay with turquoise waters and lush vegetation, all clearly has been awarded a Blue Flag, which certainly could not miss on this splendid bay!

What can I find on Mylopotas beach?

Once you arrive on Mylopotas beach you will notice that it is divided into two parts; an organized area equipped with sun beds and umbrellas and a free area where you can lie down in the hot sun and spend a day in close contact with nature.
Its crystal clear waters, besides being ideal for long swims, also offer a wide range of incredible and adventurous water sports such as scuba diving or windsurfing. Sports lovers this paradise is what you were looking for!
But not only ... fun lovers and adventure seekers, this is your promised land; numerous cafes, restaurants and beach bars, which organize unforgettable beach parties. If you want to participate in a legendary party, in Mylopotas there is one of the best known and loved beach bars on the island of Ios: the Far Out Beach Club, here all the fun is concentrated and you can kick off your deserved leisure! For those who just want to sunbathe, you can take the sun beds and umbrellas made available by the beach bar for free.
After Far Out you will instead find an excellent tavern with typical cuisine. Since the beach of Mylopotas is very touristy, you can find many restaurants, but not all of them are typically typical, indeed many of Greek have practically nothing. If instead you go to this beautiful tavern on the beach as well as enjoying traditional dishes, you will like fresh fish dishes that you will surely struggle to forget!

Little advice from the staff!

A little advice we give you is to visit the beach in the early hours of the morning if you want to fully enjoy its scenic beauty, simply pure and unique. Consider that already after midday the beach starts to come alive particularly.

The Museum of Modern Art of Mylopotas

In addition to beauty, comfort and fun, Mylopotas also offers a place that on a beach like this you never thought it existed, let's talk about its hidden gem, namely the Museum of Modern Art. This place rich in art culture is located in the home of the French philhellene Jean Marie Drot and was founded in 1993. It houses numerous works of art from Greece, Poland, Italy, Haiti and France. Inside, in addition to the paintings, particularly splendid photographs and sculptures stand out.

How to get to Mylopotas beach

To reach Mylopotas from the capital of Ios Chora, you can decide whether to go down the hill for 20 minutes on foot or use the mule track or the bus. In the first case, we inform you to think about the return as the road will be all uphill, and since a day on the beach can be quite tiring, we suggest you evaluate the idea well. If you own a rental vehicle, you can reach it by following the paved and signposted road, always starting from the capital Chora. You can use cars or scooters, but as parking is limited and the beach is well known, it can make things easier for you to use the scooter.
Mylopotas beach is a paradise for everyone. Anyone can go there, and we at the staff suggest you not to miss the gem of the island of Ios!
