Located near the port of Ormos, Koumbara beach is one of the best known on the island of Ios and therefore also one of the most popular. But if you walk away from the beach facilities, you can relax and admire its beauty, especially early in the morning!
You can reach it from the port of Chora either by bus or on foot, with a pleasant walk of about 20 minutes. The Koumbara beach boasts a wonderful golden sand that plunges into waters of a beautiful turquoise color, whose bottom remains low even when you move far from the shore. This makes it perfect also for families with small children, who will be able to swim and play in safety and tranquility.
The stretch of sand is also spaced out here and there by some small cliffs, from which generally the most daring ones love to dive into its clear waters.
Beyond these natural beauties, the beach offers two bathing establishments. A typically Greek style, with pleasantly diffused music and low cost. And another one of super luxury, with Latvian swings under cool shading curtains. The cost of the latter is obviously high, but you also have access to the beautiful swimming pool above and the beach service is fast and efficient with a wide selection of drinks and delicious dishes.
