Not to be missed in Karpathos

The island of Karpathos, best known for its pristine beaches and crystal clear waters, will also surprise you with its picturesque villages, where time seems to stand still and for the various sporting activities you can try out.

The villages

Don't miss the village of Olympos: an ancient village, built between the 7th and 9th centuries, in natural stone. In perfect harmony with the surrounding environment this village preserves, after centuries, the simple lifestyle and traditional customs. You feel like you have gone back in time. An unmissable stop on your stay in Karpathos.

The village of Aperi is located a few kilometers from Pigadia, once the capital and cultural center of the island, built on top of a hill, on which the ancient Acropolis of Karpathòs was located. The panoramic view is breathtaking!

In the village of Othos, set on a hill, about 500 meters high, you can participate in folk festivals and traditional festivals and admire the beautiful surrounding landscape.

If you are a music lover you cannot miss the village of Menetès, which gave birth to many players and builders of the Karpathòs lyre. Here is also the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God and the picturesque Byzantine churches of Haghios Mamas and Haghios Antonios, not to be missed.

Beaches

There are countless beaches to visit on the island of Karpathos, but as time is running out we list the ones you can't miss! The beach of Apella, for example, was elected, a few years ago, the best beach in the Mediterranean, with its crystal clear waters and thin gravel. Do not miss the beautiful beach of Achata for lovers of relaxation and not far you will find the beach of Kyra Panagia, so you can see two in a single day. On the beach of Afiartis for lovers of windsurfing and the impossible beach of Ammopi. We also recommend the beach of Damatria and that of Agios Nikolaos.

Trekking

For outdoor sports lovers par excellence, Karpahos offers various routes and itineraries not to be missed, with expert guides suitable for every level of difficulty. Discover the unspoiled landscapes and unspoiled nature of Karpathos!

Windsurfing and Kitesurfing

Karpathos is a paradise for water sports: in fact, thanks to the wind that often blows on this beautiful island, some beaches offer the equipment to practice windsurfing and kitesurfing, for example on the beach of Afiartis. Important sector competitions are also held here: the Speed World Cup and the ISWC European Championship, which attract fans from all over the world.

Excursions

Do not miss the boat trip on the wild and uninhabited island of Saria. Suffering from the port of Pigadia you can reach this small unspoilt paradise with its crystal clear sea, ideal for snorkeling. A short distance away you can admire the ancient city of Argos and the Saracen pirate bay.
