The Roman House is a very intriguing place although little known and frequented and is located in the heart of Kos Town. After the earthquake of April 23, 1933, during the removal of the rubble by the Italians who at the time ruled the island of Kos, some interesting remains of Roman and Hellenistic antiquity were discovered: a Villa Patrizia from the 3rd century AD which testifies to the luxury in which the nobility wallowed and a Roman House that most probably belonged to an aristocratic family (you will find various similarities with the villas and the decorations of Pompeii). If you are fascinated by these epochal structures you should really take a look at the inner courtyards, the colonnades present, the frescoes and the mosaic floors of the whole house that represent the love for nature, beauty and its importance. And don't forget the dining room and the spa area! The Roman House is made up of 36 rooms and three large halls that originally were a source of light and air for the surrounding rooms. Each of these atriums has a small fountain in the middle that had a decorative value certainly. The first atrium in the corridor housed the statue of Aslepion. In the second atrium we find on the floor the decoration of a dolphin and a sea nymph protected by walls covered with marble. In the third hall, the largest of all, there are beautiful mosaics and wall decorations. This place will have the power to catapult you back in time ... in a heartbeat! If you are looking for a place where history can be breathed, admired and revived in everyday life, you will not find anything better than the Roman House: it is the perfect place where you will relive scenes of everyday life from many centuries ago!It is easily accessible and is located to the right of Grigoriou Pemptou Street, west of Kos Town and right next to the Roman Odeon.Below we leave the times and the entrance costs:TimetablesMonday 08.00 - 19.30Tuesday closedWednesday 08.00 - 19.30Thursday 08.00 - 19.30Friday 08.00 - 19.30Saturday 08.00 - 19.30Sunday 08.00 - 19.30Entrance fee: € 6 for adults / free under 18 years / Over 65 years 50% discount
