Little Venice is a picturesque neighborhood located in the center of the city of Mykonos, near the port and is one of the symbolic places of the city. Composed of colorful traditional houses, which belonged to wealthy merchants and captains in the 1700s, Little Venice soon began to attract many internationally renowned artists to Mykonos: painters and photographers, who over the years have portrayed its charm in their paintings and photographs, thus spreading the its beauty beyond the borders of Greece.
Why is it called Little Venice?
This location is so called because with its houses overlooking the sea it reminds the romantic city of Venice, built on the water. The houses are all colorful and give, together with the light of the sunset and the blue sea, an evocative and romantic atmosphere. The internal streets of Little Venice in fact form a kind of labyrinth, once designed to confuse pirates. How to get to Little Venice
If you are staying in the center of Mykonos town, also called Chora, Little Venice is located a stone's throw from the center, near the port, so you can easily reach it on foot. If you stay in another location on the island, you can take advantage of the bus service that connects the city of Mykonos with the main tourist destinations. Or we advise you to rent a car or scooter to be able to move freely to discover this magnificent island.
