Monastiri Beach

Monastiri beach is located about 2 kilometers from Kolymbithres bay and 5 kilometers from Naoussa, on the north coast of the island of Paros. It is surrounded by rocks that allow shelter on windy days, it has soft sand together with an incredibly transparent and crystalline sea and its shallow bottom makes it excellent for families with children. All this beauty is set inside a splendid inlet! At the top right you can admire the monastery of San Giovanni, which is why the beach is called Monastiri.

You should know that since 2009 the Monastiri beach is inserted in a protected natural park, in fact from this splendid bay it is possible to make a trip on foot to get to know the hidden Caribbean coves and the beautiful lighthouse that stands in all its majesty!

But let's see what this jewel of nature has in store for us ...

Is Monastiri beach equipped?

Monastiri beach offers an excellent tavern / beach bar where you can enjoy a nice plate of fresh fish or typical Greek food and a place to stop to have a cocktail and watch live music!

If you are a lover of water sports then here you will certainly have a great time. In fact, on Monastiri beach you can practice water skiing, snorkeling, water sky, surfing, rafts and rent pedal boats, thanks to the water sports center on the beach. Obviously you can also rent sunbeds and umbrellas for € 15 per day (rented at the tavern) and kick off your blissful rest.

In Monastiri beach you may find some crowd, but it is still very quiet and excellent for days when you want to relax! It must be said, however, that if you are lucky you can attend some event organized on the beach, this is because in Monastiri often concerts, beach parties and competitions are organized that are teeming with people and lots of fun!

But the surprises do not end here, because an open-air cinema is located near the tavern, where internationally renowned films can be watched on summer evenings. How wonderful is it to watch a movie under the stars? It is certainly an alternative way to spend a wonderful Greek evening ... romantic!

The Monastery of San Giovanni

If you want to reach the monastery of San Giovanni, which we recommend, you can take one of the paths that starts from the left side of the beach. One leads to the monastery, the other is headed for the lighthouse. All the routes are well signposted with the relevant indications so you will find it easy to reach the chosen destination.
Once you arrive at the monastery you will have the opportunity to climb on its roof and admire the wonderful view that will extend in front of your unbelieving eyes: such a suggestive scenario you cannot absolutely miss it!

How to reach Monastiri beach?

Reaching Monastiri beach is very simple. We are 13 km from Parikia (the capital) and in about 20 minutes by scooter and car, you can get there via a well-paved road. As an alternative to the car or scooter, you can take one of the excursion boats, the caiques, which depart daily from the port of Naoussa.

Don't miss this beach! If you are looking for a place to combine relaxation, fun, good food, beautiful views and a bit of local culture ... then you are exactly in the place for you!
