Thermal Baths of Kalithea

Thermal Baths of Kalithea

Near the homonymous village, there are the famous Baths of Kalithea, one of the many testimonies of the Italian architectural imprint on the island of Rhodes.

The Baths of Kalithea already existed before the arrival of the governor of the Dodecanese Mario Lago at the island of Rhodes, but the latter decided to enhance them more by designing the "Royal Baths of Calitéa", whose inauguration took place in 1929. The project it was so luxurious and distinct that it became one of the most prestigious architectural works of the time. But the Baths of Kalithea had not long lived since that opening, because the arrival of the second world war caused many damages to the structure. Only in 2002 did we start with the restoration project, which ended in 2007, with the economic help of the European Union. From that moment all the exhibitions, cultural events, business meetings and receptions are all carried out in this splendid structure that in the summer turns into a bathhouse too!

The Kalithea Thermal Baths are surrounded by gardens and small parks and boast a splendid view of the emerald green sea surrounded by rocky coasts and palm trees.

When you arrive here you will be amazed by the art deco style of the pavilions and the rooms that host exhibitions, concerts and events. You will stop to admire the corridors, the colonnades, the stairs and the mosaics.

This refined place will surely win you over and since you're there after a nice visit and stop inside you can give yourself a pleasant swim at the small beach.
