Xigia beach

Xigia beach, or rather the beaches of Xigia, are located on the northern coast of the island of Zakynthos, 6 kilometers from Alykes. It is a very particular bay, with a very suggestive natural landscape, characterized by a high steep cliff with tropical colors that surrounds and seems to embrace the beach.
Xigia is divided into two beaches and is bathed by a very particular sea, with rare blue shades due to the sulphurous springs that come from a vein of fresh water in a sea cave and which contain a lot of sulfur.
The land is mainly composed of small, very white pebbles that give Xigia an even more tropical look. Its waters are not very shallow, they almost immediately become deep, so for families with children we suggest to pay a little more attention to avoid any kind of problem.

What can we do and find in Xigia?

Once you arrive on the beach we advise you to wear masks, put on your costume and dive into the beautiful waters of the beach to discover the marine fauna and flora, unique as everything that characterizes Xigia.
When you get hungry, know that the only tavern where you can taste excellent fresh fish is the one near the parking lot, or above the beach. For this reason we advise you to bring food and water if you want to eat and drink directly on the bay, without having to bother. But if you have the chance we suggest you to test the tavern, maybe taking a nice table overlooking the sea!
If, on the other hand, you want to move to a quieter area of the bay, from the car park you can take the other, slightly impervious road that leads to the other side of Xigia. This part has slightly deeper waters compared to the main beach, but it is an excellent less frequented corner of paradise in which to relax!

The advantages of sulfur!

The sulfur present in the sea of Xigia beach is a real cure-all for many diseases. In fact, it has healing and therapeutic properties that act on muscle and arthritis pain, on cellulite and on many skin diseases. It also gives a splendid quite intense color which makes the waters of Xigia much more particular and inviting compared to other beaches on the island of Zakynthos.

How to reach Xigia?

Reaching Xigia beach is very easy with the car, just follow the main road of Skinari. After arriving in the small parking lot near the tavern, where you can safely leave your car, you will have to walk the narrow road that leads directly to Xigia beach.
Be careful because there are two paths that always lead to Xigia, but one is directed to the most frequented and equipped beach area, while the other leads to the less frequented and deeper side of Xigia. If you want to go to the most popular part of the beach you have to take the path that passes in front of the bar.
Get to know the most particular bay of the whole island of Zakynthos. A mix of nature and landscape beauties as splendid as they are rare ... a nice swim in the sulfur-rich waters of Xigia you absolutely must do it!
