THE DAKOS RECIPE

Greek cuisine, like all Mediterranean cuisines, is considered one of the healthiest and recommended in the world, thanks to the balanced consumption of fresh fruit, vegetables and cheeses, and the moderate consumption of red meat and fats.

Do you fancy a fresh, tasty and easy-to-prepare salad? We present the Dakos, a typical dish of Cretan cuisine. Fragrant barley croutons, which seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, chopped tomatoes and a little fresh cheese, are perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients for the Dakos

4 barley croutons
3 ripe tomatoes
100 ml of extra virgin olive oil
150g of feta, myzithra or other fresh cheese
2 teaspoons of oregano
Some capers
Salt and Pepper To Taste.

Dakos preparation

Cut the tomatoes into small pieces and season them with salt and pepper according to your taste. Quickly pass the croutons under running water and let them rest for a few minutes.

Oil the croutons and partially cover them with the chopped tomatoes. Crumble the selected feta or cheese and spread it over the croutons. Then add a couple of capers for each crouton.

Finally, season with a sprinkling of oregano and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil ... and enjoy the fabulous Cretan Dakos! Enjoy your meal!
