TOP 5: LITTLE TOURIST GREEK ISLANDS

Generally, visitors are divided into two categories: those who prefer a classic seaside stay with lots of tourist services that help guests find all the comforts suitable for their holiday. And the adventurers, those who do not look at the services available and the economic-tourist wealth of the country in which they are located, but fall in love only with the magic that that place conveys, whether it is a tourist island or not, it does not matter to adventurers. Today we want to dedicate ourselves to this second category of visitors, giving them the 5 least touristic islands of Greece. Let's start immediately to discover them:

  • Syros, also called Syros, Cyclades archipelago (Aegean Sea)

The infinite possibilities that an island like Syros offers are nothing short of incredible. Syros does not care about tourist wealth, but it does care about the cultural wealth of its inhabitants and those who come here to find a new aspiration in life or to look for an opportunity that they have not found elsewhere. In Syros you can become a journalist and maybe aspire to work in the largest Cycladic newspaper. Students have several job opportunities, such as becoming politicians, administrators, opening stores or stationery stores. They may also decide to continue their university training with a splendid view of the Syros sea.

If you are convinced that Syros will be your next dream destination then we must try to understand how we can get to Syros. There are several possibilities for doing this:

1. From the port of Piraeus and Lavrio you can reach Syros in about 4 hours.
2. Using the plane instead there are flights that depart and arrive exclusively from and on Athens. Therefore you will have to stop on the latter to reach Syros.
3. If instead you are on one of the islands of the Dodecanese, for example Kos, you can reach Syros using one of the routes that regularly connects Cyclades, Dodecanese and the islands of the North Eastern Aegean.

But before leaving, dance with Syros, not Sirtaki, but sensual Argentine dances, which can be practiced at the Syros Tango Festival. Don't leave Syros without dedicating a sensual tango to him first!

  • Kimolos, also called Argentièra or Cimòlo, peripheral unit of Milos

Here you are the younger sister of Milos, the Cycladic superstar. Kimolos got to know tourism very recently and clearly has not yet got used to the presence of visitors to discover its land. It makes us understand the number of beds available which is clearly less than the request. Yes, in order to get to know Kimolos you have to book in time and this is the only factor that allows him to remain so little touristy. But Kimolos will not stay in this situation for long, the day will come soon when it will be flooded with tourists from all over the world, so we advise you to enjoy its unspoiled nature now, that you are still in time.

Reaching it will not be a problem since you have to pass through Kimolos to get to Milos. We therefore recommend that you take advantage of this opportunity and stop for a few days on the incredible Kimolos. Mavrospilia Beach, Bonatsa Beach and Prassa Beach will soon become places crowded with tourism .. unless you arrive in time to enjoy unmatched intimacy in surprisingly unique and completely unspoiled places.

  • Kythera, also called Cerìgo, located south of the Peloponnese (Ionian Sea)

Here is the island of Venus, or Aphrodite as you prefer. It is absurd the beauty of this island that could truly be super touristy, but for flaws related to geographic positioning, nobody queues. Huge mistake! Kythera is perhaps one of the most beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea and its only mistake is to be far from the others and to have Elafonissos as the only connection. Yes, it could also be included with a boat tour of the Peloponnese, but nobody ever looks at it, perhaps because they are unaware of the beauties that this island hides, or rather, it preserves as a precious treasure. Yes, man is afraid of nature, and how can we blame him? How many we have combined them ... but if you are respectful and lovers of nature's treasures you will know how to appreciate Kythera well. If instead you want comfort, services etc ... forget it, there are other islands that can meet your needs.

Kythera is for few, and it is right that few visit it and get lost in its natural beauty, nowhere to be found anywhere else. Ah then there is also Anticitera; imagine Kythera, therefore total uncontamination, but even more unspoiled. Anticitera can be described with one word "wild". Here even the most adventurous adventurer could have second thoughts ... on the other hand it is known that curiosity killed the cat, but few remember that satisfaction brought him back to life.

  • Ikaria, also called Nicaria, located in the central-eastern Aegean

Ikaria is, according to Vacanzegreche, the perfect island. The typical place that offers everything, but with the correct doses. Compared to the islands listed above we can say that it is the "most tourist" one (but with many quotes ... so to speak). The reason is very simple, tourism has already taken this island into consideration, without upsetting or turning it over. In Ikaria there are studios happy to welcome you and to reach it there are several possibilities that we will shortly list. In Ikaria it is as if time passes more slowly, there is no hurry and the hours that pass you forget them, it is inevitable. It is the island that contains everything you are looking for in a Greek holiday, with correct doses and long times. But seriously on vacation do you want to run? I do not believe. And Ikaria doesn't believe it either. Ikaria demands that you relax from every possible point of view. And if you leave Ikaria without being totally relaxed, most likely you have not been able to grasp it as you should have, or you need other Greek islands to do it. And it's more than fair, we are not all the same and Ikaria is not for everyone, otherwise it would not be included in this list ..

On how to get to Ikaria you should know that there are only four ports willing to reach the island; Piraeus, Mykonos, Kos and Samos. Bear in mind, however, that there are two ports in Ikaria, one to the south in the capital Agios Kyrikos and one to the north in the village of Evdilos.

  • Kalymnos, also called in Italian Càlino, located in the Aegean Sea, Dodecanese archipelago

Here is Kalymnos, left last because our favorite. How wonderful our beloved Kalymnos, the island of sponges and climbs, the greatest climbers come here to practice, also because once on the top, you can enjoy a panorama that few islands offer. This island gives us wonders upon wonders from the moment we embark from Kos to reach it, but it is not the only way to get to Kalymnos, there are several. The excursion boats from Kos pass through the Vathy "fjord", which is not a real fjord but has all its characteristics. And trust that from here you will fall in love with it. Proceeding to the fjord you will begin to sight the port of Kalymnos, once you get off you can dive into its splendid clear and clean waters, despite the regular passage of boats and caiques. In Kalymnos you will get to know Greek society, one made up of fishermen, hoteliers, sailors ... in other words, people of the past. Humble and honest people; with paint-stained hands, drinking a milkshake or eating one of the delicious pancakes from Kalymnos. Kalymnos is the smallest inhabited island of the Dodecanese, capable of making us dream from the first day until the last, leaving it with a bit of sorceress and a strong nostalgia ...

Those able to appreciate these islands are daredevil adventurers, without scruples and fears. Each of these islands will leave an indelible mark on your big heart, and trust that this sign and that longing will be difficult to eradicate, unless you come back ... Enjoy your journey to discover these Greek treasures!
