But the most amazing thing is that this ancient place is still perfectly usable, despite its many many years. Well, what about ... isn't it amazing?

The history of the Ancient Roman Theater of Milos

The Ancient Roman Theater of Milos was built between the 1st and the 4th century AD (the exact date of construction is not known) by the inhabitants of the village of Tripiti, between the coast and the hill.

The reason for this position is that it allowed the theater to have perfect acoustics, so that there were no sound problems. One problem, however, came when the Athenians attacked the island of Milos and its cities during the Roman era, completely destroying the theater. After a while it was rebuilt on the ruins of the previous one, so it began again to erect a splendid white marble complex capable of accommodating an audience of 7,000 people.

Even today it is possible to participate in theatrical and musical performances inside, its current capacity however is around 700 people. We advise you once you arrive on the island to inform you about the summer schedule. It will be an excellent opportunity for an evening where you can feel the ancient theatrical spirit.

Excavations began in 1989, and there the first finds began to come to light. Even today we do not have the certainty that all the recoverable finds have already been found and the excavations are still continuing therefore new discoveries could come out in a short time ... who knows!
