Kastanas Beach

Kastanas beach is located on the north-east coast of the island of Milos, in a fairly isolated area, far from inhabited areas and main roads. It presents slightly coarse sand mixed with multicolored pebbles, an emerald green, crystalline sea and rocks all around with particular colors, or a mix of orange, red and purple.

Kastanas beach is one of the wildest and most beautiful on the east coast of Milos! It is the ideal place for those looking for a little adventure!

And if you want to get away from the rest of this beach, perhaps a bit too quiet, you could take the car and go to the beaches near Kastanas, or the bays of Agathia and Kolibisionas.

Is Kastanas beach equipped?

Kastanas beach is not equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. All that this bay has to offer is an excellent rest, away from the chaos of the main beaches, and splendid panoramas with which you will redo your eyes!

Once you arrive you will not be able to hire sunbeds and umbrellas, nor enjoy a lunch in some tavern. For this reason we advise you to bring water, something to tease, beach towel and maybe even a parasol, to be able to spend a wonderful day in a place that you will surely struggle to forget!

Because of its barren features you may not find almost anyone on Kastanas beach, if not two or three people, also brave and adventurous like you.

If you love snorkeling then Kastanas is your ideal place, in fact here you can go to discover the fauna and marine flora that inhabit these waters for a long time, an incredible experience that you can't miss! However, remember to bring your snorkel gear as the bay does not offer visitors any equipment.

If you are exploring the rocks pay close attention to the sea urchins lurking over them, on the beach of Kastanas there are several, and many will know that it is not really a happy encounter between a foot and a sea urchin ...!

How do you reach Kastanas beach?

Reaching Kastanas beach is not very easy by car, although the road is lined with signs indicating it.

Starting from Pollonia you will have to take a dirt road, but you will arrive at a point where the road signs are not clear, so we recommend using GPS, which could be much more convenient, also because many tourists often miss the road and find themselves in the quarry or in the mud fields, so we recommend you pay close attention during the journey. We suggest the use of a 4x4 or a quad: a Pandino could be affected a bit, but try not harm!
Alternatively you can choose to reach by sea and avoid any problems.
