Potami Beach

Potami Beach

Potami beach is located 30 kilometers northwest of Vathi, near the village of Karlovasi. In fact, the villagers often frequent this beach and you will be able to meet them several times and maybe get to know them.
In its 730 meters in length it has the shape of a 3, very particular, due to the thin sand tongue that re-enters the sea. It boasts crystal clear and turquoise waters, pebbles with some stretch of sand and a very interesting surrounding landscape characterized by cliffs and green mountains rich in vegetation. In addition to an incredibly relaxing peace! So if you are looking for a place where "relaxation" is the word of the day, this is the place for you.
The sea can often be a little rough and its seabed degrades fairly quickly, so we recommend paying attention to the little ones. But for snorkelers the sea that bathes the bay is excellent, as inside its waters you can admire thousands of fish of all different colors!

Beach services

Potami beach offers several services: you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, use bathrooms, showers and changing rooms and when you get hungry you could stop to enjoy a good dish of Greek food or fish based in the excellent tavern on the beach. If you prefer to stay light, go to the beach bar where you can enjoy a coffee and buy a snack.
If you are in the company of your partner or you love romantic visions, then you cannot miss the sunset. Potami beach is the perfect place to watch the sun go down.

How to get to the beach

Getting to Potami beach is very simple, you can decide whether to get there by bus or your car, in the last case know that there is a free parking where you can safely leave your car.

Beyond the beach

The name Potami derives from "Potami Kastanias" or the name of the river that flows nearby. Check it out when you get to the beach. And since you're there, don't miss: the river waterfalls located 2 kilometers from the bay, the oldest church on the island of Samos, that of Metamorfosis and another splendid church with architecture to be admired and panoramic views unique, that of San Nicola. Last but not least you may also know the imposing Genoese castle.
To get to the natural waterfalls you have to undertake a path in the woods that before taking you to the small lake where you will see the waterfalls fall, makes you pass near an ancient very nice church!

This place is not only sea, sun and relaxation but also offers the view of unique natural and artificial beauties. A splendid memory that you must take home from your holiday on the island of Samos!
