Tsigrado beach is located on the southern coast, approximately 11 kilometers from Adamas . It has crystal clear sea, soft clear sand, small caves to explore and high cliffs behind it that seem to protect and embrace it. It is one of the most famous beaches on the island of Milos and if you are an adventure lover .. you are in the right place! The reason? It is its difficult achievement that makes it a destination not suitable for everyone.
To reach Tsigrado beach there are two ways: by boat, the simplest. Or, with a little more effort, walk. You can take the car or a local bus, the latter starting from Adamas, which at the cost of € 2 brings you close to the beach (but be careful there are only 3-4 buses per day). Once you get there, go down a narrow and steep passage dug into the rock, where you will find a rope that will help you cross it. When you have passed the first obstacle, keep walking on the very narrow path between the rocks and once you spot the beach in front of you, you have to go down a vertical wooden staircase that will finally put your feet on the sand. Be very careful, because the cliff has sand and small pieces of rock that are not very stable that can collapse, avoid jumping into actions that you consider safe, try to feel the ground before resting on it with your whole body.Of course, getting to Tsigrado beach on foot requires a lot of will and effort, but it will give you an advantage (if you arrive early in the morning): you can enjoy the beautiful bay before all the excursion boats that bring guests to visit the beach have arrived from Tsigrado. Then keep in mind that the beach of Tsigrado, being surrounded by cliffs, is immediately obscured by the shade during the sunset time, so arriving early in the morning will definitely have its advantages! On the other hand, the disadvantage of reaching it by boat is being forced to admire the beach together with hundreds of other people. Certainly it does not lose its beauty, but visiting it without the many visitors ... has a charm of its own!
Once you have overcome the obstacle of the cliff and place your feet on the soft earth of Tsigrado, you will immediately notice that the beach is not equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, for this reason we advise you to bring all you need to spend a day at the teach relaxation! On windy days it is the perfect place to go, thanks to its location and the surrounding high cliffs.Know that the nearest restaurant is a 15/20 minute walk from Tsigrado beach. This route includes the ascent of the cliff and the descent from the hill, so we suggest you bring snacks and drinks in the morning, and then if you wish, go to Fyriplaka beach just before lunch, to enjoy a good fish dish. One thing you can't miss on Tsigrado beach is snorkelling, exploring the marine flora and fauna of these waters is exciting. You could spend hours on it without ever getting tired!Although getting there is not easy and the beach is a bit hidden, it is still worth visiting. The views you will admire and the long swims in the calm waters will repay all your effort. This precious gem of Milos will remain in your heart and will be an unforgettable experience!
